Can librarians provide class instruction during the current suspension of in-library services?

Answer

The Libraries continue to provide synchronous instruction in all disciplines. As long as the physical libraries are closed and York courses are delivered online, these library classes will also be offered online. Our library classes will continue to focus on digital and information literacy skills including the ability to find, retrieve, evaluate, analyze, consume and create information in all formats. These classes are also tailored to course assignments/papers through dialogue between the relevant faculty member and a librarian.

Take note also that:

  • Three weeks notice is required for these class requests
  • We recommend that instructors submit their requests by May 15, 2020, though later requests will be considered where possible
  • Requests for classes can be placed through our online booking form. See this web site for full information.

For asynchronous library teaching materials, please contact Dana Craig, dcraig@yorku.ca, Director of Student Learning & Academic Success at York University Libraries.
