My professor has a book on reserve. Will I be able to get it?

The availability of items on reserve (these are high demand materials instructors make available via the Libraries) depends on the format they exist in.

Due to the suspension of in-person library services and the temporary closure of the Libraries, printed materials, including books on reserve are currently unavailable.

To check whether materials on reserve for a course you are enrolled in are available electronically, search OMNI.

Select Course Reserves from the drop-down menu that appears to the right of the main search box shown below:

In the main search box, type in your course code (e.g., HUMA1400) or the Course Instructor's name and search to find materials on reserve for a specific course or instructor.

If items on reserve are print only, check with your instructor to see if alternate formats, e.g. an e-book, is available. Your professor can send an email to to make inquiries. Your professor can also explore our Digitization of Course Readings service, though this is only possible where this is permitted under York University's Fair Dealing Guidelines.

We also recommend that you consult our Finding Scholarly Materials Online Guide.
