Can I charge my phone at the Library?

Answer

Phone Charging Stations:

Cell phone charging stations are available at the Bronfman Business Library, the Frost Library, the Scott Library and the Steacie Science & Engineering Library.

Distributed by ChargeBar, each unit has six docking stations for cell phones and two stations for tablets and each comes equipped with most cables including Apple’s Lightning cable, USB micro and USB-C. There are two stations at Scott and one each in Bronfman, Frost and Steacie Libraries

Getting Started Instructions:

  • Users can gauge whether a station is available as each docking station will have a green light when available for use, and a red one when occupied.
  • The stations are secured via a pin chosen by the user and can only be unlocked by entering the same pin - this allows the user to secure their device and walk away, rather than sitting by an outlet, waiting for a charge

  • On screen prompts guide users through securing their device(s)
  • Please communicate any feedback or issues with these stations to the circulation staff at each library branch and they can contact someone who has access to override in the event a patron locks up their device and can't remember their pin

  • Please note: the Frost Library's station is opened and locked by tapping a physical YU-card (not by entering a pin). Unfortunately, people without a physical YU-card cannot use the station

  1. The stations have been updated to use a PIN instead of the YUCard. As part of opening the locker, patrons may enter a PIN of their own choice, which must be used to remove the phone later.
